Jazz vocalist Max Wellman’s annual Home for the Holidays concert has become a cherished musical traditional in Des Moines. The fourth annual, one-night only performance is set for Saturday, December 21 at Wooly’s.
Home for the Holidays will feature Wellman’s classic Christmas favorites with a modern jazz twist. A 6-piece big band, directed by the talented Dave Rezek, will provide a throwback to the cocktail culture vibe with its jazz age and beat generation inspiration. Tina Hasse Findlay and Chris Ford will make special appearances at this year’s concert.

Wellman’s first new album in three years, You Must Believe in Spring will be released at Home for the Holidays. This endeavor is a unique collaboration featuring a string quartet lead by the arrangements of renowned composer Sam Wells. You Must Believe in Spring showcases a refreshing mix of jazz with the romantic and classical musical traditions of the Great American Songbook.
